The best decision
reviewed on: 12/06/2015 by NinaH19The process to send a close loved one to assisted living is always a difficult one, but the transition was made pleasant by the wonderful staff at Spring Hill Mount Vernon. The staff was amazingly transparent with the whole process and provided us with plenty of information. The tour of the building was spectacular. I have never been in such a facility that felt so homey and clean. We were able to look inside some of the rooms to get a feel for it and they were so well maintained and decorated. Each unit was a mini apartment. We got to see the activities that were provided for the residents along with the meal plan, and it made choosing this place so easy and stress free. Furthermore, each staff member I met was pleasant and genuinely cared. I felt extremely comfortable leaving my mother in the care of this place and would recommend it to others without a doubt.
ALF during COVID-19
reviewed on: 10/29/2020 by AnonymousIt is ok. It is a quasi nursing/ALF. If you can walk, and care for yourself, it is an ok place. Since COVID-19, there are rules in place as they are following CDC guidelines, working with the health department and following corporate guidelines. That is a plus. However, those with dementia have suffered the loss of a hug, a kiss and close contact with loved ones. They are doing their best to accommodate families with window visits, patio visits, etc... however the time is short...15 minutes. I worry for those with dementia because they can’t remember what they have eaten, if they eaten, if they participated in an activity, I& they had a shower or a hair wash, etc... talking to the resident just does not provide the answers you would like to hear. The staff is pretty good but not all are the same. Communication regarding your loved one days does not happen unless you call and ask. Even if you do, you may get an answer or may not. I try not to overwhelm the staff in getting answers. I do know my loved one is not happy being there currently. It is tough to get old.
Best Place in the area

The food is great
reviewed on: 07/08/2013 by AnonymousWe looked at several other communities and felt like Spring Hills was the best suited for our situation and our loved one. The food is great and they provide a menu that has alternate meals to choose from. They had availability and we were able to move in fast. The community is very fine and we feel we made the right choice for our loved one.
