Good experiencereviewed on: 03/01/2021 by anonymous
We only used Home Helpers for a month but had a good experience with them. They were really good, I spoke with the owner a couple times on the phone and I really liked her. We also enjoyed our caregiver. I would recommend them and already have.
Would recommend for family member who is older and doesn't require a lot of acitivties or socialization.reviewed on: 08/24/2021 by anonymous
Depending on your loved one's needs, I would be cautious. If they're fairly social and want to make friends, this is not a good place. I think it's important to match the facility with the census of the people in that facility. For instance, their activities were lackluster, and I was not impressed. They had people who couldn't talk or were comatose sitting in on trivia questions. So activities were not necessarily matched to the ability of the residents. The staff were mostly very friendly and tried their hardest, although you always have one here and there that weren't. My loved one said the food was good, with a good selection, and he's a pretty picky eater. Overall it's a nice facility. But I think if you're going to be paying that much money, you'd better have a a lot more activities, and ones that are better suited for residents of different abilities. And if you have a loved one who is very active and alert, I would double check the census of the people there.

The experience overall has not been bad. However, the individuals who have come to care for my loved one have had excessive use of their phones. And I feel that is not professional or appropriate for this type of care. You can't just be on the phone and take care of an elderly person. I feel phones should not be allowed unless it's a dire emergency. Only one of the caregivers who has been to our home hasn't used her phone the entire time she's been here. The staff in the office have been forthcoming, and I know anytime we've called, they've gotten back to us promptly. They've been friendly and tried to be as accommodating as possible. It seems like they don't have too much control once a caregiver is in the home what's going on there. I don't know how well the caregivers are screened, or what criteria is used. I would understand some phone usage if they have young children, or an older person they care for themselves, as long as they voiced that to us. But otherwise I would prefer they not use their phones. The phone issue aside, I am grateful for the services they provide, that there are people out there who do this type of work, and that my loved one is still cared for when I'm not able to be there.
Tour of Homewoodreviewed on: 09/20/2021 by anonymous
Homewood is very nice. They have all types of care provided here. The facility itself is gorgeous and super clean, but it is pricey. All of the apartments have balconies off of them. We did not choose this facility due to the higher cost and they did not have any availability on the first floor.
A good community, but communication could use improvementreviewed on: 06/01/2021 by anonymous
From what we have been able to see of the community, everything looks very clean. When it comes to the staff and their care services everything has been going great, and the feedback regarding the meals our loved one says they feed her plenty of food. Our loved one is still getting acclimated but the residents are able to get out and about. We do think the value is fine, but the communication could be improvement which would be our only complaint.
