Nice place, spacious apts, reasonable price, take COP and Care WI, they do meds out in the main lobby which I thought was kind of strange, owner does not know the residents by name.

Enough Interaction With Activities

Mom is doing quite well since returning from a fall. She is getting the extra help to make it easier for while she get settled in again. They have good ideas to help with falling. She is eating good food and she is getting to a lot of activities. It is important to me that she get socialization. It has a more happier atmosphere.

The Director was extremely helpful with ideas for persuading Mom and approaching this topic with her. Prairie Gardens is an 11 year old facility with a long term staff, many still there from the opening. Residents seemed happy as I was invited into two different apartments to see the layouts and furnishings. The garden/patio area was lovely and backing to farmland with the available apt. overlooking a nearby farm. Very comfortable and homey. Dining/activity area was large and restauant like. The apartments were spacious with large windows and a kitchenette. No storage in apt, but that is minor. Life line type system and pull cords in the bedroom and bath. Nursing staff 43 hours a week. Two full-time activity staff and a full time cook. A daily eating food option given for each day. They ask residents to come down for each meal and up in the morning on a regular schedule. This may be too rigid for Mom initially. They would keep track of eating amounts if requested. Limited religious services, mainly Catholic. The staff and management is very passionate about their community. Their ideas for transitioning an unwilling patient were respectful and well planned. A very nice community. My reservation is if Sun Prairie is inconvenient for the family to visit. This would be my third choice.
