I toured this community
reviewed on: 01/23/2018 by AnonymousI went on a tour here and it was OK. This looked like an older building. The rooms were nice and it seemed clean. It just felt really crowded and not enough common areas. When we looked at the dining room it was depressing. The staff was nice and answered all of my questions. I recommend families tour before making a choice.

Franciscan Courts
reviewed on: 01/10/2019 by AnonymousI helped a family member move into a senior independent living apartment at Franciscan Courts in November 2018. The building is clean and modern - very well maintained. My aunt reports the food is very good, and serving/kitchen staff very nice. It would have been nice if someone from the Courts would have greeted her upon arrival and given her an orientation to the facility and operation. I had to give a lower (but not bad) rating to the care services. My aunt reports the care givers are often in such a rush to pass meds that they don't listen to her and respond to her concerns. Often the care giver says they will relay concerns to the nurse, yet days go by before the nurse responds. Especially in the evening, meds are not passed at a regular time, and sometimes meds that are timed to aid sleep are given too early. While I understand that there will be different staff (care givers) every 3-4 days, that is hard on an elderly person looking for continuity; it creates stress. The activities schedule is full of things to do, and opportunities to get out of the building. I wish someone would personally visit and encourage residents to get involved in activities. While my aunt believes there is not enough value given for the fees paid, I disagree. Her apartment is beautiful and kept clean, laundry done to her satisfaction, and the food is great.
If you're considering this place to take care of your loved one, keep looking!
reviewed on: 03/22/2014 by AnonymousBoth my parents were in rehab a few years back. I was NOT impressed with the nurse or aides at the facility. The PT and OT was inconsistent and the staff was rude and non-responsive to their needs. I thought it was bad then, however, my Father fell in the Assisted Living facility in the back of the Villa and broke his hip and ended up going back there. The staff was even worse the second time around. They were rude, took over an hour to respond to call lights and they didn't care if the residents ate or not!! He fell a few times due to their lack of caring and supervision. The one caring aide had to quit because they wouldn't give her more hours. They were ALWAYS understaffed!! A stroke of luck happened today, we were able to secure a spot in another facility, one that actually gave us hope of our Father being able to stand and possibly transfer without a hoyer lift. Franciscan Villa is the LAST place I would put anyone I loved!!
Avoid at all costs
reviewed on: 10/01/2017 by KeithPlease please please avoid at all costs. Mom was sent for PT after a major surgery...im too tired and don't have the patience to go into everything. If it wasn't so late on a Saturday, I would have taken her somewhere else today. Think I've found a better place and will tour tomorrow. froedert hospital needs to remove them from their list.
