Community Reviews
Sunrise of Unionville
reviewed on: 07/13/2017 by AnonymousI am quite pleased with Sunrise although they keep asking me to get other things for Dad. First it was a toilet seat riser, then a new bed and now bibs for eating. He is quite comfortable there and now that he will be getting physiotherapy I think he will progress quite rapidly into walking again. To start with they were having him participate in singing and music, which are not his thing, but have adapted his program more to his interests.
A Very Good Place
reviewed on: 06/09/2017 by Family MemberHe's very, very happy. He is doing wonderful. I love the facility I really do. I'm happy. It's very clean, and I never get complaints about the food, or anything like that. It really is very nice.
Beautiful facility needs one small improvement.
reviewed on: 11/19/2018 by Elizabeth GailMy sister-in-law, for whom I have POA for personal care, needed assisted living services earlier this year. There was no such accommodation in Durham Region where she lived previously. Clearly, more of this level of care is needed for those who are not completely independent and yet not needing the services of a long term care facility. Sadly, the cost of care at Sunrise is prohibitive for many. I, myself, could not afford to live there. We recently held a family gathering in the Activity Room on the 2nd floor and the staff were very welcoming, gracious and accommodating in giving us the use of the room, providing and setting up tables and chairs, providing linens etc.. My sister-in-law has only one complaint - the quality of food served in the dining room is "uneven" at best. When visiting her, we ourselves have also experienced inconsistency in the quality of meals provided. Considering the cost of living there, this is disappointing. Otherwise, she is happy at Sunrise and is quite bonded with one particular caregiver. Sunrise provides good but high cost assisted living services for those who can afford it. We need more of this level of care at more affordable prices.
My mom is happy there
reviewed on: 08/18/2015 by AnonymousThe food would get about a four. Sometimes I notice that the the light bulbs burn out in the rooms, and it takes a little while to get noticed. LED bulbs might be a good fix for that, and they are a money saver too. We liked the environment when we first went in. It was welcoming and warm, and I liked the location as well. My mom is happy there, which is the most important part.
Warm, caring supportive.
reviewed on: 11/11/2016 by B Elaine SaksonsFound ourselves in the situation of having to place both parents in care. Sunrise offered to take them both and keep them together. The staff is very caring and go out of their way to accommodate their residents. They are very approachable and easy to reach. My parents are not adjusting well in spite of all that Sunrise has done to make it easier for them. Unfortunately, they are not in a position to return to their home. Sunrise staff are supportive to the family and understand the extreme stress we are all under.
