The best care for your loved one is at the Inn at Whitewood!
reviewed on: 12/21/2015 by grateful daughterMy mom has been at the Inn at Whitewood Village for nearly 2 years now. We are so pleased with the care that she is receiving and can't imagine a better environment for her! I will begin by telling you about the administration. The director is the most personable, professional, likable, concerned director that anyone can ask for. He addresses issues immediately, sets high standards for his employees, and knows each resident by name. One can frequently find him chatting with the residents while they dine., getting to know them better as he empathizes with them. His office door is always open and he is never too busy to take time for families. The business director is on top of her game, as is the Marketing Director. Both are approachable and very good at what they do. The head of nursing will do whatever she can to help your loved one and is so committed to her job. The nurses and aides are at my mom's side whenever she needs them. They love the residents and do so much for them. My mom has grown to love so many of her aides., and appreciates them so much. The security at the Inn is top-notch. Monitored, hidden cameras keep everyone safe, along with a check-in system that the receptionist keeps track of. The maintenance director has done so much for my mom in the way of cleaning her carpet, fixing her walker, hanging pictures, etc. He never hesitates to pitch in where needed. The residents themselves have so much fun! The activities keep them as active as they want to be, with outings, crafts, entertainment, movies, bingo, Bible studies, etc. The facility itself is beautiful. I liken it to a cruise ship, with a movie theatre, pub, hair salon, chapel, aviary, aquarium, greenhouse, etc. I highly recommend the Inn at Whitewood Village for your loved one. Stop by and check it out for yourself and see what I am talking about. You won't be disappointed!
Nice But Still Needs Improvement
reviewed on: 04/14/2014 by AnonymousIt is true that no matter where you place your parents, there is never a perfect place. Communication is definitely the key to getting your concerns met. You must be calm with your concerns. I recommend writing down your thoughts before you share them with the person in charge. I wrote a whole page of notes for each of my parents as requested by Whitewood and many of the concerns were not addressed until I brought it to their attention. My parents have lost several items of clothing after they were laundered. And everything was labeled with a Sharpie. My dad has alarms on his bed and chair and when they go off5 because he is getting up by himself, it seems to take the aids awhile to get to his side. And we pay $10 a day in addition to the $175 a day to have these alarms. Often my mom does not have socks on her feet when they are supposed to be assisting her with orientation. We also pay $10 extra a day for this service. Many times the aids call off work and they are short staffed or others pick up a shift and complain about being tired. The meals are above average. The planned activities are very good. They have excellent musical acts that come in. Whitewood has only been open since July of 2013 therefore it is still very nice. But I have seen wear just in the past 3 months. We were told my parents could eat in the assisted living dining room. But my dad was having trouble at first and they banned them from this dining room. When my dad got better, they said there was no room for them to eat in this area and there are always open tables and chairs. It seems like they told us yes to things to get my parents in there. And now that they are in, the policies have changed. They have a couple of very unfriendly aids whom give out the medicine. The only RN is the director and he doesn't have any direct contact most days with the residents. My parents are in special care/memory unit. I think Whitewood needs to clearly state what their definition of special care is. It seems to fluctuate with each resident.
Thrilled with Whitewood
reviewed on: 04/03/2015 by JmcIt is a relief to have my dad living at such a wonderful facility. It truly feels like home. We have been thrilled with every aspect of Whitewood. The Inn is beautiful, fun and friendly. They have daily activities that are entertaining for all the residents. The food is delicious and meals are fun with lots of socializing and laughs. The staff is the best !! They are caring and friendly at all times. His physical therapist has helped to build his strength and mobility. The nursing staff cannot be beat. They always take the time to talk with me and explain my dad's health issues. It is a comfort knowing my dad's care is in the hands of loving professionals. Without hesitation, Whitwood is given five stars in every category.
It’s a beautiful place
reviewed on: 05/05/2014 by AnonymousIt’s a beautiful place and there are lots of people to help take care. I thought the food was excellent. The called me right away when she fell. The only thing about the laundry was that when she went to the hospital, they didn’t take care of her laundry. They just closed the door and left things. They were still being paid because we had the furniture there, so they could have cleaned things up and made it wall ready for her if she were to come back.
