Best Place

reviewed on: 08/15/2017 by Granddaughter

My Gram resides at The Fountains and has been there for almost 5 years. She is 100 years old and still lives in Independent Living. It has been the most fun she has had in over 25 years, making friends, going to activities, and having peers to meet for dinner each night! The staff is attentive, caring, and responsive to all of her needs!!

50/50

Independent Care: Almost immediately after moving in, the dining room did away with a really appetizing salad bar and stopped serving eggs at Sunday brunch. If you are sick and call for Dr. Palladino it can take more than a day and several calls before you are finally seen. Assisted Living: Some of the care givers are less than pleasant, seem to have zero patience and/or wish to listen to the residents needs in this next phase of their life. Some are a little too rough in their handling and have left marks on more than one occasion. If you bring this to anyone's attention they always find a way to blame the resident.. Skilled Nursing: Some of the caregivers will leave you lying in your own urine while they go off and do other things. It's understandable that they have a lot on their plate but laying in your own urine for too long will cause burns and should have some sort of priority. The residents have to sometimes repeat their request over and over because caregivers move on and forget the minute they leave a room. Why aren't they walking around with a book and taking notes so that they can go down their list once they are back in the office. Dr. Palladino often lets a text/call go unanswered until you follow-up; he sometimes forgets to relay messages to his staff (again, where is his book to take notes?); will not stop in to see the resident after he told you on the phone he would. He is a busy man with multiple facilities and clearly barely keeping his head above water. The residents deserve a doctor to be available to them 24/7 in this last stage of their life more so than in IL and AL. With the heft checks that we cut every month, you'd think our family member would be getting much better care. On the upside, there are some pretty amazing staff members that go above and beyond their call of duty. Many friendships have been made. The dining room is so pretty and gives you the feeling of dining out in a nice restaurant with linen napkins and daily menus. The cafe is not over priced and those ladies are so pleasant. Mail (like Amazon boxes) gets delivered quickly and efficiently. If they can get a handle on being more attentive to the needs of their residents, I'd happy give them five stars!

We were quite impressed by the placement process. Everyone was responsive and caring. The meals have not been as good lately (food lukewarm, out of certain items) but we know there are work shortages etc. Dad is very content and has people around now. His physical therapy has helped a lot!

Be Aware that It Might Happen

reviewed on: 04/06/2021 by Anonymous

We moved in during the pandemic. It met all the criteria my parents needed. My loved one needed additional care, and the community doesn't keep beds open. I would like to see the community keep beds open in case a resident needs the additional care. I have voiced this to the management team. The meals are okay and delivered to the residents' rooms. They are starting to allowing dining in the dining room today. My loved one feels alone there. A lot of things have changed due to new management, per other residents.
