The community was founded in 1849, and is named after Beaufort, South Carolina. The small community boasts Kevin's Gun Service, two gas stations,Voss's and DJ's a feed store Beaufort Ag. Supply, and Honald Hardware Store. There is also a small post office and bank. The town consists of many houses and has a lot of farming in the community.
