Community Reviews
Working out well so far
reviewed on: 12/13/2013 by SonThings have worked out well so far for my Mom here. It is a clean, nice looking facility, and they've provided everything she has needed carewise thus far. The staff I've interacted with have been fine, and although my Mom does not participate they seem to have a good variety of activities. This community also provided a good value for the type of services we were looking for.
Not so Good in Hindsight
reviewed on: 11/14/2013 by DaughterWe had to withdraw my mother from Brooksby because of a discrepancy over money. At the time, I thought that she was getting good care, but in hindsight, it wasn't as good as it could have been. She is getting much better care now. They did do activities, but it was always large group activities, so it was hard for all of the residents to get really involved. The food always looked good, although I never had it.
Medical Center Lacking
reviewed on: 10/23/2018 by AnonymousMedical Center not up to par. Always understaffed. My parent has had to wait days and in two instances over a week to be seen for an urgent issue. Huge problem for the past several years. Residents don't want to complain in fear of being singled out. Social activates are great. The food is great. Medical services should be the TOP priority at a senior community. The logo says "Brooksby Village" Worry free retirement. Not true!
CORONAVIRUS TERRIBLE RESPONSE FROM BROOKSBY
reviewed on: 03/21/2020 by Furious Resident RelativeI want to write on behalf of my parents who have been at Brooksby for several years. However, now Brooksby is not providing a reasonable food service since the beginning of the Coronavirus issue. They offer only one meal a day, without drinks. Today's offering was a 2 x 3 piece of fish.... They are not offering shopping services, such as going out to the walmart for the residence, so that they could subsidize the food. They closed the little store they had on campus. Essentially what they are doing is giving the residents, an incredibly high risk group, no choice but to go out Remember -- this is all financially all in their best interest. WE ARE FURIOUS!!!! We would like to see THEM doing some shopping for residents or making some extra things available for them to purchase & provide...you know, like toilet paper or milk and eggs or whatever key items the residents say they need. ASK THE RESIDENTS WHAT THEY NEED! BE REPONSIVE & PROACTIVE!!! Don't tell the residents what you can't -- Tell them what you can!!
