Being a part of a thriving community brings a special joy to life – regardless of age. Through our enrichment programs, Susan Bailis strives to instill that sense of community in each of our residents. Our community enrichment programs offer all our residents a host of choices including musical and cultural events, lively group discussions, card games, gardening, movies on the large screen TV and cooking classes in our Café, – every day. They decide what activities are right for them and when they want to join in. It's all about choice ... Wellness Programs Exercise and conditioning are critical to long-term health and well-being. Too often though, exercise can be tedious and exhausting. Our Resident Life Director has made our daily exercise classes not only healthy but also a lot of fun with the sounds of big band, gospel, disco, and jazz music urging everyone on. The program is quite popular and receives high marks from our residents. Social Programs Our social programs build on the sense of community – not just for our residents, but also for their family and friends. From summer barbeques on our outdoor patio to our Annual Holiday Party to regularly scheduled concerts, our social calendar encourages residents, family and friends, and our neighbor’s join in the fun. Residents build friendships dining together, attending our many events - and through our popular and well attended Resident Sharing series, during which residents shares their lives, experiences, and memories answering questions and finding common ground. Musical Programs Susan Bailis Assisted Living uniquely appeals to seniors interested in music and who enjoy being entertained by gifted students, as well as professional musicians. Many of our residents were professional musicians or long-time members of their choirs, and many more share a life-long love of music. Our strong musical program reflects their love of jazz, classical music and opera. Residents enjoy frequent live performances in the Community’s Music Room also attending concerts at the nearby Symphony Hall, Jordan Hall, the Berklee College of Music and Opera House. Cultural Programs Community residents also share a love of poetry and art. Our poetry group, including several residents who write themselves, meets monthly to read and discuss a variety of works. Other resident artists paint and sculpt. Our close proximity to the Museum of Fine Arts, the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum and the Institute of Contemporary Art allow for frequent visits. -
