Greal place for your loved ones

reviewed on: 03/04/2017 by Grace

At age 99, after years of living on her own, my Mom began to start falling down periodically. As there were many times she was alone, and with both me and my daughter working full-time, we became concerned for her welfare and thought it was time to find a nice facility where we all could have peace of mind and Mom could also enjoy the company of other seniors. As we started looking at facilities, we did get a little discouraged. But, my cousin had a friend who knew of Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge and advised us to go see the facility. On our first visit to Victory Centre, we met Latrice McGee (Lifestyle Coordinator); she provided answers to all of my questions, assisted me with the paperwork and was always available at every step of the process. She has a genuine love and affection for the residents and made my Mom feel special right way. Latrice even let my daughter and I decorate Mom’s room before she moved in to make her transition easier. We still have videos of Mom walking in her room and crying with happiness, so pleased about her beautiful room. A few months after moving in my Mom had some health issues, with several stays in the hospital. At this time, I really thought we would have to find alternate housing. But Julia Milne (Executive Director) called me and said that Victory Centre was Mom’s home and of course, she could come back. That really sealed it for me. Mom eventually recovered from her health issues and has been doing well. I can tell she is loved by many of the workers and residents, which gives me such peace of mind. The facility is clean, they have numerous outings and activities and a nice menu in their dining room. All the nurses are extremely nice, especially Keisha and have been helpful in keeping me updated on Mom’s health. A couple of years ago at Mom’s 100th birthday, the Director and many of the workers and residents were on hand to help Mom celebrate. Mom will be 102 years old this September and continues to do well and I know a lot of that is due to being at Victory Centre of Sierra Ridge. I would definitely recommend this facility for your loved one.

You feel like you are at a hotel!!!

This community has a hotel feeling to it. It does not feel like a nursing home. The community is clean and well taken care of. My loved one seems to like the food. They offer daily activities as well as outings. I would recommend this community.

New Activity Manager is great!

My mom has lived at this community for a number of years. They have gone through several management changes over the last few years. Some changes have been good. One change in particular has been really good. The activity manager Katherine is outstanding. She is very kind to my mom and encourages her to try new things. Ever since she got there, I noticed that my mom is more upbeat and happy. Their is definitely a whole more going on there then there used to be.

They care!

My mother lives in the community and I can't thank them enough for making her feel "special". Julia (Executive Director) and the wellness team go above and beyond to make sure my mom is healthy and receives all the care she needs. The whole staff are fantastic and go above and beyond each and everyday, not just for my mom but for every resident and it is evident when you walk around the common areas and see the interactions staff have with the residents. Julia and her staff truly care and I cannot thank them enough! I would recommend anyone thinking about senior care for their loved one to tour the facility and you will see what I mean

It was more of a hospital setting and I did not like that at all.

It was a very big facility and very nice. The only thing is, when you walked in it smelled of urine, badly. Also a lot of double rooms, and not many private rooms. It was more of a hospital setting and I did not like that at all.
