reviewed on: 10/20/2020 by AnonymousI've been repressed in visiting my wife of 62 years since mid-March 2020 primarily due to restrictions imposed by COVID-19. For over a year and a half before the onset of COVID-19, I visited my bride for about two hours daily during meals in the Memory Care dining room. During Saturday dinners we SKYPED our son in Japan. During these daily visits I had the opportunity to observe the staff in the performance of their duties. Without exception, all were caring, most compassionate and professional in all respects. At no time did I observe a staff member exhibit frustration annoyance.. The meals, many of which I too partook were balanced in verity, quality and quantity. Considering the circumstances, for my taste, they were oftentimes somewhat bland. The staff responsible for varying activities were exceptionally dedicated individuals. They arranged for frequent outside 'professional' entertainers; piano players, singers, visiting pet sessions, skits, et al. They also provided daily in house activities; bingo, sing-a-longs, projects, games and field trips. I believe the overall staff turnover rate is above the norm. However, there is a dedicated CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) staff core that have been with Bright Oaks since day one. Bright Oaks should consider employing an OMBUDSMAN to periodically communicate the status of the residents to their loved ones, especially during this COVID-19 Pandemic. Currently, from my personal experience, I am only contacted when there is a need for my loved one. Occasionally, on my request, I do receive an E-mail photo of my wife, but not always. Would I recommend another to entrust their loved one into the care of Bright Oaks of Aurora. Absolutely, without reservation. They administer GREAT care, but not PERFECT
Nice location
reviewed on: 05/18/2020 by AnonymousThe nurses at Bright Oaks seem to really care about the residents. Half of the CNA staff seem to really like their job and the others are just there. The location was a good fit for my family. Bright Oaks had availability when we needed it. Food seems okay, I have only tried the food once and it was good.
New Property
reviewed on: 11/13/2017 by AnonymousWhile looking for a place for my aunt, we arrived at this facility and were quickly welcomed by the staff team. The atmosphere along with their great hospitality made us feel very welcomed. The location as well is very convenient. This is a new place so they kept everything clean and orderly. The only slight drawback of the facility is that because it is fairly new, the staff is only now getting experience. But no one is pushy and the team is really connective. I’m also very pleased with the activities offered. They have painting, art day, crafts, and bingo. Events and activities would be posted on a monthly calendar. I also know that they have a beautician that started coming in as well. The other residents there are very friendly and it seems that there is a mix of all ages. The food that they offer seems ok too. My aunt has never really made any complaints and I know they have a menu that changes. So they always are getting a variety and not eating the same thing every day. I also notice that they have a bus there that may take the residents on outings or doctor’s appointments. Overall it is a great new facility.
Mixed care & they still owe us a refund after a year.
reviewed on: 02/20/2021 by PatriciaTypical of most facilities, there was a high turnover in staff and there were several times when there was a shortage of staff. The care that my loved one received was varied, depending on the available personnel --some were there just for the paycheck and some were there because they genuinely cared for the residents. My family member was fortunate in that there were several who took very good care of him. When his needs increased they discharged him. My biggest complaint now is that according to our contract, my family member is due a refund and after a year we have not received it yet. Except for about 2, calls are not returned. When there is a response, it was that either they're looking into it or its someone else's responsibility.
